I find it sad that air pollution had to become health threatening and gasoline prices had to rise through the roof before the world automotive industry sat up, took notice, and began development of electric vehicles (EVs).  I am excited about the introduction of the RAV4EV.  Odd, however, the vehicle was marketed lightly by Toyota years ago, some were even sold in the US.  Then the model was removed from the market, presumably because of lack of interest.  Too bad.  Think what could have been had the RAVEV caught on.
;     ;  Nissan has already begun marketing the Leaf.  Though currently a little pricey at approximately $35,000 USD one can hope that competition from Ford and GM, both who plan to introduce all electric vehicles in the next couple of year, will bring the prices down.  Perhaps now is the time for a new ‘Saturn’ type company or another newcomer to challenge the “Big Three”.
